Waiting on Wednesday #15: Words on Bathroom Walls by Julia Walton

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine. Its purpose is to highlight upcoming releases we’re dying to get our hands on.

~*~*~

I haven’t done a Waiting on Wednesday post in forever, but Words on Bathroom Walls (July 4, 2017 – Random House Books for Young Readers) sounds intense and epic, so I wanted to share it with you. If it’s not on your TBR already, it should be!

Fans of More Happy Than Not, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and It’s Kind of a Funny Story will cheer for Adam as he struggles with schizophrenia in this brilliantly honest and unexpectedly funny debut.

Adam has just been diagnosed with schizophrenia. He sees and hears people who aren’t there: Rebecca, a beautiful girl who understands him; the Mob Boss, who harasses him; and Jason, the naked guy who’s unfailingly polite. It should be easy to separate the real from the not real, but Adam can’t.

Still, there’s hope. As Adam starts fresh at a new school, he begins a drug trial that helps him ignore his visions. Suddenly everything seems possible, even love. When he meets Maya, a fiercely intelligent girl, he desperately wants to be the great guy that she thinks he is. But then the miracle drug begins to fail, and Adam will do anything to keep Maya from discovering his secret.

Waiting on Wednesday #14: Daughter of Chaos by Jen McConnel

Hey everyone. Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine. Its purpose is to highlight upcoming releases we’re dying to get our hands on.

Daughter of Chaos
There comes a time in every witch’s life when she must choose her path. Darlena’s friends have already chosen, so why is it so hard for her to make up her mind? Now, Darlena is out of time. Under pressure from Hecate, the Queen of all witches, Darlena makes a rash decision to choose Red magic, a path no witch in her right mind would dare take. As a Red witch, she will be responsible for chaos and mayhem, drawing her deep into darkness. Will the power of Red magic prove too much for Darlena, or will she learn to control it before it’s too late?

DAUGHTER OF CHAOS is the first in the RED MAGIC paranormal YA trilogy.

I don’t even know where to start. This book just sounds completely amazing in every way. I love that it’s about witches. I love that Darlena tries to choose her own path. I love that it incorporates Greek mythology with the Greek Goddess Hecate. I just love everything about it! And that cover!!

Daughter of Chaos will be released on March 25, 2014. You can learn more about it on Goodreads.

Waiting on Wednesday #13: Side Effects May Vary by Julie Murphy

Hey everyone. Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine. Its purpose is to highlight upcoming releases we’re dying to get our hands on.

Side Effects
What if you’d been living your life as if you were dying—only to find out that you had your whole future ahead of you?

When sixteen-year-old Alice is diagnosed with leukemia, her prognosis is grim. To maximize the time she does have, she vows to spend her final months righting wrongs—however she sees fit. She convinces her friend Harvey, whom she knows has always had feelings for her, to help her with a crazy bucket list that’s as much about revenge (humiliating her ex-boyfriend and getting back at her arch nemesis) as it is about hope (doing something unexpectedly kind for a stranger and reliving some childhood memories). But just when Alice’s scores are settled, she goes into remission.

Now Alice is forced to face the consequences of all that she’s said and done, as well as her true feelings for Harvey. But has she done irreparable damage to the people around her, and to the one person who matters most?

Julie Murphy’s SIDE EFFECTS MAY VARY is a fearless and moving tour de force about love, life, and facing your own mortality.

Side Effects May Vary sounds so amazing, I can’t even! She has to face the consequences of her Bucket List? Who ever thought that would happen?? I’m excited to see how this goes!

Side Effects May Vary releases on March 18, 2014. You can learn more about it on Goodreads and you can pre-order it on Amazon

Waiting on Wednesday #12: Alpha Goddess by Amalie Howard

Hey everyone. Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine. Its purpose is to highlight upcoming releases we’re dying to get our hands on.

Alpha Goddess
In Serjana Caelum’s world, gods exist. So do goddesses. Sera knows this because she is one of them. A secret long concealed by her parents, Sera is Lakshmi reborn, the human avatar of an immortal Indian goddess rumored to control all the planes of existence. Marked by the sigils of both heaven and hell, Sera’s avatar is meant to bring balance to the mortal world, but all she creates is chaos. A chaos that Azrath, the Asura Lord of Death, hopes to use to unleash hell on earth.

Torn between reconciling her past and present, Sera must figure out how to stop Azrath before the Mortal Realm is destroyed. But trust doesn’t come easy in a world fissured by lies and betrayal. Her best friend Kyle is hiding his own dark secrets, and her mysterious new neighbor, Devendra, seems to know a lot more than he’s telling. Struggling between her opposing halves and her attraction to the boys tied to each of them, Sera must become the goddess she was meant to be, or risk failing, which means sacrificing the world she was born to protect.

Amalie Howard is amazing. Hands down. So there’s no question that I MUST get my hands on Alpha Goddess! It sounds really, really good and it has an original plot. I can’t wait to read it!

Alpha Goddess will release on March 4, 2012. You can learn more about it on Goodreads and you can pre-order it on Amazon.

Waiting on Wednesday #11: Uninvited by Sophie Jordan

Hey everyone. Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine. Its purpose is to highlight upcoming releases we’re dying to get our hands on.

Uninvited
The Scarlet Letter meets Minority Report in bestselling author Sophie Jordan’s chilling new novel about a teenage girl who is ostracized when her genetic test proves she’s destined to become a murderer.

When Davy Hamilton’s tests come back positive for Homicidal Tendency Syndrome (HTS)-aka the kill gene-she loses everything. Her boyfriend ditches her, her parents are scared of her, and she can forget about her bright future at Juilliard. Davy doesn’t feel any different, but genes don’t lie. One day she will kill someone.

Only Sean, a fellow HTS carrier, can relate to her new life. Davy wants to trust him; maybe he’s not as dangerous as he seems. Or maybe Davy is just as deadly.

The first in a two-book series, Uninvited tackles intriguing questions about free will, identity, and human nature. Steeped in New York Times bestselling author Sophie Jordan’s trademark mix of gripping action and breathless romance, this suspenseful tale is perfect for fans of James Patterson, Michelle Hodkin, and Lisa McMann.

I have heard so many amazing things about this book. I mean, a gene that marks you as a potential murderer? I’m sold! I’ve seen some reviews for Uninvited already and they all seem to be really positive. One of my good friends read it just recently and absolutely loved it. I definitely can’t wait!

Uninvited comes out next week (January 28, 2014)!. You can learn more about it on Goodreads and you can pre-order it on Amazon!

Waiting on Wednesday #10: Cress by Marissa Meyer

Hey everyone. Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine. Its purpose is to highlight upcoming releases we’re dying to get our hands on.

Cress
Rapunzel’s tower is a satellite. She can’t let down her hair—or her guard.

In this third book in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles series, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.

Their best hope lies with Cress, who has been trapped on a satellite since childhood with only her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker—unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

When a daring rescue goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing stop her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only ones who can.

I haven’t read Cinder or Scarlet yet, although I plan to in November. All three books look seriously amazing. It took me awhile to feel that way about Cinder – I wasn’t too hot on the idea of Cyborgs, but the more I learned about the series and the more reviews I read, the more I realized I could look past that to the awesomeness of the plot and characters. I’m a huge fan of fairy tales – I grew up on Disney Princesses! And I really can’t wait for Winter – which, I know, is a LONG way off! But it sounds amazing – so I need to read the first three to prepare! And February feels like a long way away!

Cress comes out in February 2014. You can learn more about it on Goodreads and you can pre-order it on Amazon!

Waiting on Wednesday #9: A Matter of Truth by Heather Lyons

Hey everyone. Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine. Its purpose is to highlight upcoming releases we’re dying to get our hands on.

Matter of Truth

Not long ago, Chloe Lilywhite seemingly had it all: a prized spot on the Magicals’ Council as lead Creator, a loving fiancé and Connection, and a wealth of good friends. But the poised young woman she projected was nothing more than a façade. Her parents all but disowned her. Power plays and accusations of murder within the Council rocked her confidence. And most difficult of all, her secret, a secondary Connection to Jonah’s twin brother, Kellan, became painfully impossible to resist. Desperate to gain control over her rapidly unraveling existence, Chloe did the unthinkable: she ran away.

Now living and working in Alaska under an alias, Chloe is slowly discovering who she is and, more importantly, who she wants to be. But the more she tries to leave the Magical world behind, the harder it becomes to stay hidden. The Elders are back with a vengeance, and the stakes have never been higher. Chloe finally has to make a choice: embrace her pre-ordained Fate or pave her own way in the worlds. One thing’s for sure, though—she’s finally up for the challenge.

*This is a New Adult title, suitable for readers 18+.

I absolutely LOVED A Matter of Fate and A Matter of Heart. They were amazing, original and unique. I’m totally Team Kellan, all the way! The end of A Matter of Heart was just… GAH!!!!! And I need, need this book ASAP!!!

A Matter of Truth will be released on November 5th, 2013. I don’t have a pre-order link at the moment, but you can check it out on Goodreads!

Waiting on Wednesday (#8): Find Me by Romily Bernard

Hey everyone. Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine. Its purpose is to highlight upcoming releases we’re dying to get our hands on.

Find Me

“Find Me.”

These are the words written on Tessa Waye’s diary. The diary that ends up with Wick Tate. But Tessa’s just been found . . . dead.

Wick has the right computer-hacking skills for the job, but little interest in this perverse game of hide-and-seek. Until her sister Lily is the next target.

Then Griff, trailer-park boy next door and fellow hacker, shows up, intent on helping Wick. Is a happy ending possible with the threat of Wick’s deadbeat dad returning, the detective hunting him sniffing around Wick instead, and a killer taunting her at every step?

Foster child. Daughter of a felon. Loner hacker girl. Wick has a bad attitude and sarcasm to spare.

But she’s going to find this killer no matter what.

Because it just got personal.

Murder. Mystery. Computer hacking. Need I continue? This book just sounds like all kinds of awesome!!!! I first heard about it during the Epic Reads Tea Time ARC Party. The cover is intriguing, and the description makes it sounds AMAZING. I seriously can’t wait.

Find Me will release on September 24, 2013! You can pre-order it here.

Waiting on Wednesday (#7): Unhinged by A.G. Howard

Hey everyone. Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine. Its purpose is to highlight upcoming releases we’re dying to get our hands on.

Unhinged

Alyssa Gardner has been down the rabbit hole and faced the bandersnatch. She saved the life of Jeb, the guy she loves, and escaped the machinations of the disturbingly seductive Morpheus and the vindictive Queen Red. Now all she has to do is graduate high school and make it through prom so she can attend the prestigious art school in London she’s always dreamed of.

That would be easier without her mother, freshly released from an asylum, acting overly protective and suspicious. And it would be much simpler if the mysterious Morpheus didn’t show up for school one day to tempt her with another dangerous quest in the dark, challenging Wonderland—where she (partly) belongs.

As prom and graduation creep closer, Alyssa juggles Morpheus’s unsettling presence in her real world with trying to tell Jeb the truth about a past he’s forgotten. Glimpses of Wonderland start to bleed through her art and into her world in very disturbing ways, and Morpheus warns that Queen Red won’t be far behind.

If Alyssa stays in the human realm, she could endanger Jeb, her parents, and everyone she loves. But if she steps through the rabbit hole again, she’ll face a deadly battle that could cost more than just her head.

I shouldn’t have to say anything at all regarding the reason why Unhinged is my WoW pick. The reason should be obvious: Morpheus!

I love Alice in Wonderland retellings and stories, as well as books that are set in the world of Alice in Wonderland – as is the case with the Splintered series. And Morpheus is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (x infinity) swoon-worthy! He is, without a doubt, my Ultimate Book Boyfriend and he’s ON THE COVER OF UNHINGED!!!!! I just absolutely can’t wait! January is WAY too far away!

You can pre-order Unhinged on Amazon by clicking here.

Waiting on Wednesday (#6): Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins

Hey everyone. Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine. Its purpose is to highlight upcoming releases we’re dying to get our hands on.

rebel belle

Harper Price, peerless Southern belle, was born ready for a Homecoming tiara. But after a strange run-in at the dance imbues her with incredible abilities, Harper’s destiny takes a turn for the seriously weird. She becomes a Paladin, one of an ancient line of guardians with agility, super strength and lethal fighting instincts.

Just when life can’t get any more disastrously crazy, Harper finds out who she’s charged to protect: David Stark, school reporter, subject of a mysterious prophecy and possibly Harper’s least favorite person. But things get complicated when Harper starts falling for him–and discovers that David’s own fate could very well be to destroy Earth.

With snappy banter, cotillion dresses, non-stop action and a touch of magic, this new young adult series from bestseller Rachel Hawkins is going to make y’all beg for more.

I’m a HUGE Rachel Hawkins fan. I loved the Hex Hall series. I haven’t read School Spirits yet, but it looks amazing. If you don’t know, it’s a spin-off (stand-alone) to the Hex Hall series.

Rebel Belle sounds amazing, interesting, unique – Edelweiss describes it as Buffy with a southern twist. Uhm… I NEED THIS BOOK NOW!!!!!! I LOVE Buffy the Vampire Slayer and I love Rachel Hawkins. That’s, like, the BEST combination, ever!

Unortunately, Rebel Belle doesn’t release until April 2014 – That’s such a long time from now!!! *Pouts and sniffles*

You can pre-order Rebel Belle from Amazon by clicking here.
