Waiting on Wednesday #10: Cress by Marissa Meyer

Hey everyone. Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine. Its purpose is to highlight upcoming releases we’re dying to get our hands on.

Cress
Rapunzel’s tower is a satellite. She can’t let down her hair—or her guard.

In this third book in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles series, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.

Their best hope lies with Cress, who has been trapped on a satellite since childhood with only her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker—unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

When a daring rescue goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing stop her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only ones who can.

I haven’t read Cinder or Scarlet yet, although I plan to in November. All three books look seriously amazing. It took me awhile to feel that way about Cinder – I wasn’t too hot on the idea of Cyborgs, but the more I learned about the series and the more reviews I read, the more I realized I could look past that to the awesomeness of the plot and characters. I’m a huge fan of fairy tales – I grew up on Disney Princesses! And I really can’t wait for Winter – which, I know, is a LONG way off! But it sounds amazing – so I need to read the first three to prepare! And February feels like a long way away!

Cress comes out in February 2014. You can learn more about it on Goodreads and you can pre-order it on Amazon!

    • When Cinder first came out, I was like… Mehhh. But since blogging, I’ve just heard nothing but good things. I’m so excited to finally get to it and then Scarlet! :)

  1. How did I not know that the cover was already revealed!? :O So pretty! I still need to read Scarlet. Just waiting for it to come out in paperback since I bought the first one in paperback and they HAVE to match! I hope this one isn’t predictable b/c the first book was predictable.

    • Yup! A few months ago, actually.. I think.. Haha, nice! I wanted to wait to get Scarlet in paperback too, but I really wanted to get it signed at the Fierce Reads event, so I caved and got it in hardcover!

  2. Oh, you must read Cinder & Scarlet! Both books are amazing! I love how Marissa managed to weave her own story with the traditional fairy tale references!

  3. I was hesitant to read Cinder also because of the cyborg element, but that definitely was not overbearing in the book, and it was a really good read.
