Event Recap: Fierce Reads Tour + Giveaway

Hey everyone! I hope you’re all having a great Friday! I’ve never done an event recap before (I’m terribly behind on posting about the last event I went to..) so bear with me, please!

Last night, the awesome Fierce Reads tour stopped at my local New Jersey Barnes & Noble! I was so excited, because big book tours like this never come close to me. Usually, they stop in NYC – Which I can still get to, but it’s a little more difficult. So, of course, as soon as I heard about the event, I decided to go!

At first, they were going to seat us upstairs – my Barnes & Noble has a HUGE upstairs event area. But we had a smaller crowd, so they moved us downstairs to a smaller space. It was still a great turn-out, and we had an awesome audience with fantastic questions! Once the Fierce Reads authors were seated and introduced, they went right into answering questions!

Sadly, I was not coordinated enough to record the answers to the questions, but I can tell you a number of the questions were about each author’s current books, writing inspiration, character inspiration and future projects. They were really great about answering the questions they COULD answer (Some of them had projects they couldn’t discuss, or weren’t working on anything major at the moment).

During the question and answer period, Leila had a mixed CD that she offered up for the first person to ask a question. Nicole @ Paperback Princess was the lucky winner of that CD! Later on in the signing, Alexandra offered up a Tumble & Fall tote bag to the first person to answer the question (paraphrased), What would you do if you only had a couple of days left on earth? And guess who the first person to answer that question was? You guessed it – Me! I said I would read as many books as I possibly could! Everyone got a kick out of that! Here’s the adorable tote bag:

And then came the signing!!! The signing was a little bit hectic and crazy – At least, it was for me! I had so, so many books to get signed and I felt really bad for taking up their time – especially poor Marissa! I had her sign FOUR books! She was so sweet about it, though, and she was so fun to talk to!

After getting my books signed by Marissa, I snagged these awesome pins and this cool Lunar Chronicles bookmark:

After the signing, I went to look at books with two awesome bloggers I met – Nicole @ Paperback Princess and Sophia @ [YA] Between the Lines.

After about twenty minutes, we made our way back to the front of the store. Almost everyone had left at that point. The authors had signed a ton of stock were saying their goodbye’s to the last few people hanging around. I managed to snag pictures with them at that point!

All in all, the night was amazing! I got some books signed for a friend, and a bookmark signed for another friend. I also snagged this really cool Fierce Reads poster!

  1. I’m número uno and what?! Woot woot! I’m so happy you went and I’m still jealous you got to meet Marissa Meyer!!! Glad you had a great time though hehe.

When I was a kid my favorite fairy tale used to be Ariel because I wanted to have fins and swim in the water like her. But now my fave is Belle because she loves books lol.

    • It was so much fun!!! I’m so glad I went!!

Oohhh, yess! I was a HUGE Ariel fan when I was younger! I loved to swim, so I was always waiting to grow a flipper! Haha :) Belle is awesome for that! Nice choices!!

  2. To one of my favorite girls, what an awesome giveaway!!! And I’m super jealous of the awesome event you got to go to. Gosh, hard question though. I would say it’s between The Little Mermaid (Broadway version because it’s the most girl power of the versions) and Beauty and the Beast (I mean Belle is a reader and loves bookstores, what more could we want in a heroine??). *huggles*

  3. My favorite fairy tale was always the Disney version of Beauty and the Beast. I always wanted to be Belle so that I could have access to the Beast’s library.

  4. Looks like you had a lot of fun! Sadly I was not able to attend but there is always another chance in the future. I have yet to attend a book event so hopefully I will be able to at one point. :-)

Truthfully, I cannot think of my favorite fairy tale. I enjoyed watching the Disney version of classic fairy tales but it is not something I adored as a child. I was not into pretending to be a princess but rather playing with puzzles, haha.

  5. When I was a kid I honestly didn’t much care for fairy tales, but now I love them (though sometimes I like to point out the obvious faults in their logic ;P)I think my favorite now would either be Alice in Wonderland or Little Red Riding Hood :)

So glad you could go to the signing and that you had a great time!! It sounds awesome!! You got so many awesome books and such and I’m so jealous!! Hope you enjoy all the books! Thanks for the giveaway! <3

    • Alice in Wonderland!!! Very awesome! I’m obsessed with Alice in Wonderland lately. I’ve always loved it, but Splintered reminded me just how much I loved it!

      Thanks! <3333

  6. My fav fairytale is 12 Dancing Princesses. It isnt all that popular but i loved it growing up.

I think you did an excellant job recapping. Wish i could have gone.

  7. My favorite is Snow White. I think it is because of the Disney movie with all the animals coming to her. And the dwarves of course!

  8. “Beauty and the Beast” Belle didn’t care what the beast look like, she treated him just like any other human being.

  9. What a question!!!!! Meredith idk if it’s fair to ask a girl what her fave fairy tale is :/ I loved Little Mermaid when I was younger, to the point that my mom had to buy the tape 3x bc I wore it out lol But it’s between that & Alice in Wonderland

  10. I love, love, love The Little Mermaid. Her hair was amazing. Red. And because of that, I first dyed my hair red. I love red hair. :) Also, The Lion King, I’m still suffering from Mufasa’s death. :'(

  11. Mine would have to be Cinderella.:) The whole nicely dressed up dress to wear to a ball and shoes she was scrubbing floors then got to go to this ball I use to clean so getting to dress up like Cinderella for one day would be awesome just saying. Although when I got married nearly three years ago this coming Dec 15 I felt like a princess in a nice formal dress that I got online second hand and a crown never worn but got online cheap and my daughter’s bestfriend did my hair and makeup and I was like omg I feel like a princess and I did with not the big cost that a wedding could cost and I had it in my home with Christmas/wedding deco everywhere Christmas is my fav time of year so yes I did feel like a princess one day but not will all the sparkly stuff:))

  12. My favourite fairy story is probably Ariel. It’s dark and it’s light and, like life, doesn’t always have a happy ending (at least in some versions of the story)

  13. My favorite fairy tale has to be Rapunzel. I remember my mother reading it to me when I was younger in a book full of fairy tales. I loved the whole story of the wife so desperate for Rapunzel, he went to get it from the witch’s backyard and of course everyone knows what happens after that :) thank you for the giveaway!

  14. lol I meant the husband was so desperate to please his wife, he stole the Rapunzel from the witch’s backyard**..wow that post didn’t make sense anyways..

  15. My favorite is Alice In Wonderland and i loved the Splintered books twist on this tale but I was ver impressed with how Cinder made such an old classic modern

  16. What an awesome event to attend.
For my favorite fairytale, I would have to go with the Disney versions, because the original fairytales usually result in some form of tragedy. When I was a kid, I loved The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, so I think those two would tie as my favorites.
